Further education & training: Just the Zeitgeist? Life experience counts!

Our region has had plenty of experience with structural transformation – both good and bad. Those who actively engineer change make the most of opportunities and reduce risks. Networks of companies, further education institutes and industry associations ensure that people have good access to qualifications.

For example: During the 2020 coronavirus crisis, very clever use was made of the short-time working allowance further education fund. Half of all Federal Employment Agency funds were channelled into a project in the District of Zwickau. Backed by 20 million Euros, people were trained up as skilled workers (some taking Chamber of Commerce and Industry examinations), thus gaining new career opportunities.
